Mark Webber: “A perfect day”

Last weekend, in Barcelona, the Australian from Red Bull was untouchable. Best time in Q1, Q2 and Q3, Mark Webber dominated the race head and shoulders, taking the lead under the checkered flag, without ever being threatened.

“It was a very, very good grand prize, says the former Jaguar driver. RBeing in the lead at the first corner was crucial, we knew that. Everything worked out for the best. I was very surprised by how quickly I made the hole. From there I was able to concentrate on my pit stop. Then I saw that after the pit stops, Lewis and Sev had exchanged positions. When I saw Lewis behind me I said to myself that it was going to be very interesting. It was a very special day. A victory after starting from pole position is always something exceptional. Everything was perfectly executed by the team. I would say it was a perfect day for me.”

Now fourth in the driver's world championship, the Australian thinks his RB6 should be at home on the streets of the principality.

“It’s been said thousands of times, in Monaco a good position in qualifying is half your race. Our car should do well there, and I love driving on this circuit. For drivers, Monaco is an extreme place.”
