Marquez and Pedrosa try their hand at F1

Toro Rosso welcomed this week Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa on the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg (Austria) to discover driving a F1.

The Spaniards have benefited from the linked partnership between Honda whose interests they defend by MotoGP and the Red Bull to take the wheel of an old Red Bull, the RB8 from the 2012 season, rebadged for promotional purposes.

“It’s always been my dream to drive the fastest cars in the world, commented the four-time MotoGP champion. I approached this discovery with the greatest respect and didn't sleep very well the night before. It was ultimately an incredible experience and a highlight in my career. »

“There are huge differences with MotoGP, added the leader of the Motorcycle World Championship. Reduced visibility was one of the main difficulties, said Marc Marquez. Braking distances and time spent in turns have nothing to do with each other. An F1 car has a lot more downforce and that makes things a lot of fun in the sections with the most corners. »

Antonio Cairoli, seven-time MXGP world champion, was also invited to this test session. These two-wheel pilots are not the first to try the experience since Valentino Rossi had participated in a similar session with the Team Ferrari while Jorge Lorenzo did the same with Mercedes.
