Mattia Binotto: “The entire car project must be reviewed”

The podium of Charles Leclerc at the Austrian Grand Prix seems more and more a smokescreen in view of the real performances of the SF1000. The next two races, Styria and Hungary, were much more difficult for the Team Ferrari, between a lackluster clash between Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel at the Styrian GP, and a difficult race in Hungary with a 6th place as the German's best result.

Faced with an increasingly tense situation, Mattia binotto, head of Ferrari's Sports Management, wants to be realistic and intends to make strong decisions. “After three races, it is clear that we are in a worse situation than expected and that we must react without delay, indicates the Team Principal.

The entire car project must be reviewed, taking into account the limits currently imposed by regulations. I am well aware that there is no magic wand in Formula 1, but we need to shift gears to make a difference, both in the short and long term.

It may also be necessary to look at our organization to improve and strengthen our working methods where the needs are greatest. But first, as a team, we need to understand the dynamics that led to this situation.

I have confidence in the people who work in Gestione Sportiva: we have started a long process that should lead to another winning cycle. It will take time, but the entire company understands and supports this vision. That’s why I find it amusing to read stories that are spinning: it’s not by firing people that you make a car run faster…”

This same Mattia Binotto indicated in the wake of the Hungarian Grand Prix, that the current dynamic of the Scuderia was unacceptable. Now let's see the actions within the Italian team.
