Max Chilton: “A feeling difficult to explain”

For Max Chilton, the announcement of his official arrival as a starter at Marussia arrives like a cherry on a cake, after an extraordinary year. “It’s hard to find the words to describe what I feel”, expresses the Briton. “This announcement comes at the end of what has been a fantastic year for me. After my pole positions and victories in GP2, after my performances during youth testing in Formula 1 and my participation in the free practice sessions in Abu Dhabi, I gave everyone confidence in my ability to compete at the highest level of motorsport. »

Chosen as a reserve driver in September by the Russian team, Max Chilton hopes to take advantage of this young experience to get into the rhythm straight away. ?I?m very lucky to have competed in the last six races of 2012 as the third driver at Marussia, which means that instead of starting from scratch, I?ll be able to quickly get comfortable with the people, the culture, the racing systems and, of course, the 2012 package. Since the Japanese Grand Prix, I have been able to appreciate very closely the commitment and determination provided by the members of the team, until the end of the last race. I feel very lucky to start my career in Formula 1 with these kind of people. »
