Max Verstappen pro-party in his country

Imperial on his land, the Red Bull driver capsized with happiness the tens of thousands of Oranje fans who contributed to making the return of F1 to Zandvoort a huge popular success. On a demanding old school track, although not conducive to overtaking, Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes will have tried to spoil the celebrations. But the local hero was simply too strong. Here is the Red Bull wisp once again at the head of the world championship.

Max Verstappen pro-party in his country

Can two monarchs coexist peacefully within the same kingdom? The question is clearly not debated in the Netherlands where Max Verstappen, hero of an entire people, can almost discuss on an equal footing with King Willem-Alexander who acceded to the throne of Holland after the abdication of his mother, Queen Beatrix, in 2013. Unsurprisingly, the color orange stood out the lion's share in the dress code of the Zandvoort cocktail party. It's very simple, it was only for the pilot Red Bull, with the exception of a few lost sheep in caps Ferrari, T-shirt McLaren (the ideal camouflage to go unnoticed among the Batavians), or outfit Mercedes for the most daring. We would have thought we were back in the days of Schumimania at Hockenheim in the mid-1990s, when Germany was waking up to F1 at the same time Michael Schumacher rose to the roof of the world. Although we had prepared ourselves and knew the overheated atmospheres of Mexico and Interlagos, the Dutch fervor had its effect. Whether by train or bicycle, the waves of the Oranje tide broke uninterrupted, but very orderly, on the undulating shores of the North Sea. Despite a reception capacity reduced to two thirds of the maximum attendance, i.e. a shortfall of more than 10 million euros according to the former pilot and sporting director of the event Jan Lammers, it was necessary to jostle to get through a path among this compact, joyful, and unmasked crowd, because tested, vaccinated, or immunized. Sine qua none conditions to be part of the party.
