Max Verstappen at ease in the rain

Already last year, Max Verstappen had demonstrated its qualities in the rain, notably during the Norisring event in the European Championship of F3, where race 2 was disrupted by the elements. This Saturday in Malaysia, for his first outing in conditions such as those encountered on the Sepang track, the 17-year-old Dutchman did not miss the opportunity to shine again.

" I am very satisfied. It was a good session this afternoon, especially in Q3, admits the pilot Toro Rosso. In Q1 and Q2, I wasn't completely comfortable with the car. I smiled when I saw it started to rain, because that's what I like (Max was used to riding in the rain at a very young age, see AH n°1999). Sixth is a great position to start tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it, and even though we seem to be struggling in the long runs, I'm not worried and I'm hoping to score points. »

Such a result would make him enter a little further into the history of F1, the youngest driver to have started a Grand Prix, two weeks ago in Australia. The former resident of Van Amersfoort Racing also equaled the best position achieved on an F1 starting grid by his father Jos.
