McLaren unveils special Gulf livery for Monaco GP

McLaren decided to dress up for the return to the calendar of the most glamorous event of the season. The single-seaters of Lando Norris et Daniel Ricciardo will thus be adorned with a new livery, specially designed for the 2021 Monaco Grand Prix (May 20-23).

The pattern features Gulf's iconic colors, which will evoke fond memories for motor racing enthusiasts, particularly fans of 24 Hours of Le Mans

In 2020, McLaren and Gulf Oil International renewed a strategic partnership whose roots date back to 1968. The first association lasted until 1973 and spanned a period during which the British manufacturer achieved success in F1 and in the Can-Am series in America.

The McLaren-Gulf collaboration resumed in the 1990s at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, including a 2nd place for the McLaren F1 GTR Longtail No. 41 in 1997. Since last year, Gulf has been the preferred lubricant supplier for McLaren Automotive vehicles. .

« We are delighted to pay homage to the iconic and bold lines of the Gulf livery of which we are all huge fans, commented Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing. It is one of the most striking decorations in the world of motorsport, a work of art that inspires beyond the boundaries of racing ».

In addition to the livery, the overalls, helmets and official outfits of the Woking team will be in Gulf colors during the Monegasque event, which makes a welcomed return to the F1 calendar after the cancellation of the 2020 edition due to pandemic.
