McLaren-Honda remains a threat to Toto Wolff

McLaren-Honda will have to get back on track after a particularly difficult 2015 season with only 27 points scored by Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button. If Mercedes F1 seems untouchable with its competitive Power Unit and its pilot duo composed of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, the executive director of the sports branch of the German manufacturer Toto wolff keeps an eye on developments at the Woking team.

“The threat is permanent”, recalled the Austrian. “Honda is a large organization with many resources. They are the ones who experienced the greatest progression curve with their Power Unit in 2015. Even if it was a difficult year for them, their achievements remain very good with the progress made over the entire season. I am sure they will be formidable opponents in the future. »

Toto Wolff is also interested in the progress of Manor which will now have the 6l turbo/hybrid V1.6 unit from the star manufacturer. “Manor will make big progress and it won’t just be down to the Power Unit. They have a very competent group: the staff is impressive, they have a good budget, they have a good attitude and they will have Pascal (Wehrlein) at the wheel. I'm sure the car and driver will have some brilliant moments and will be able to progress in the middle of the pack.", added the executive director of Mercedes Motorsport.
