McLaren is not alarmed

With five short laps completed in two days, the official debut of the McLaren MP4-29H powered by Honda V6 turbo/hybrid engine remain complicated. This Wednesday, an electrical problem disrupted the day of Stoffel Vandoorne and Eric Boullier's men. The boss of the competition is not alarmed, however.

“Although it looked like another tough day, it's just part of the learning we expected when we started the program with the development car,
indicates the Frenchman. It is useful to discover these issues before Christmas, as it allows us to deepen our understanding of the complex integration between propeller, auxiliaries and the car. And, to be honest, I would rather iron out these problems here in Abu Dhabi than discover them in Jerez next February. »

Eric Boullier also wanted to highlight the progress in communication between Honda and the Woking team.

“It is very positive for McLaren and Honda to carry out this test. There were some problems, but we made progress. We've also had a great start relationship-wise: the communication and interaction has been great. Any mileage accomplished this week will simply have been a bonus. »
