McLaren could sell shares in the F1 team

When the F1 launched its major “New Deal”, with a budgetary cap as its flagship measure, several teams make no secret of seeking financing options in the face of an economic context made even more delicate with the coronavirus pandemic.

Si Williams Group had recently mentioned a potential sales process among several options to ensure the future of the British entity, it seems that it is the turn of McLaren to launch a study to find funding.

According to Sky News, this phase would only be at a “conceptual” stage but could include a sale of shares in the team, up to 30%. However, one share remains a minority, the majority shareholder remaining the Mumtalakat entity, originally from Bahrain.

The Family Latifs, Nicholas officiating as a regular driver at Williams, had also recently acquired shares in the McLaren group.

As Sky News points out, McLaren's competition division accounts for 20% of the Woking group's annual revenues, while the latter posted losses of more than 148 million euros at the start of 2020.

Faced with the crisis, McLaren had already announced the elimination of 1 jobs of the company's 4, with 000 directly linked to the F70 team.
