McLaren presents its F1 single-seater concept for 2050

MCLExtreme. The name chosen by McLaren and its Applied Technologies division for its futuristic concept of car F1 version 2050, could not be better chosen. The entity of Woking, in the lineage of his work on the MP4-X in 2015, has once again lent itself to an exercise in style that is, to say the least, extreme, on what the F1 of the future could be.

100% electric, this MCLExtreme could carry, according to McLaren's ideas, batteries potentially integrated into the shell of the single-seater. The latter would be developed with pontoons that could contract and expand depending on the situation (example taken by McLaren: the gills of a shark), and allow the car to reach a top speed of 500 km/h.

Equipped with a transparent cockpit, this MCLExtreme would be equipped with composite material tires with the ability to self-repair, and with induction charging technology. Artificial intelligence would also take a preponderant place within the car and within the races.

In the vision proposed by McLaren, the tracks will also evolve significantly compared to the currently known complexes, with urban areas as the new core target, and with layout designs offering elevation changes and bankings.

A vision which seems very distant and at first glance very extreme for F1, but which nevertheless has the merit of existing in the minds of McLaren Applied Technologies engineers.
