McLaren is still groping

With 79 laps completed in four days, the beginnings of the short story McLaren MP4-30 and Honda turbo/hybrid V6 will not have been as productive as expected by the thinking heads of the Anglo-Japanese duo. “Of course we expected problems. It's a test, after all – but the difficulties we encountered here were more than expected, and we weren't able to get the running time we ideally wanted, explains Yasuhisa Arai, Honda Motorsport Manager. Nevertheless, the comments from Fernando and Jenson were generally positive, and they gave us some very good information. »

This Tuesday, despite engine problems, Jenson Button was able to complete a total of 35 laps, and continue the development work of the car of Woking. “We still managed to start our aero program, get data for the people at the factory, so we can verify that everything is working properly. » concludes Matt Morris, Director of Engineering.

McLaren will return to the track during the second session of winter testing F1, from February 19 to 22 on the Catalan route of Barcelona.
