McNish wants to see di Resta in F1

Allan McNish, one of the most renowned drivers on the current field of?Endurance, would like to see Paul di Resta succeed him in Formula 1. The Scotsman, supported by Mercedes and tested by Force India several times during free practice sessions on Friday, is currently helmed by Adrian Sutil and Tonio Liuzzi within the Silverstone-based team.

For Allan McNish, there is no reason why his compatriot should not succeed in obtaining a starting seat. “ If you look at the mistakes made by Sutil and Liuzzi in the last races, you would think that Paul would have his place “, the Audi driver told the Daily Record.

But Allan McNish knows that the quality of the steering wheel is not the sole master of the pilots' destiny. “ Unfortunately, there is a lot of politics in motorsport and F1 is at the peak of that. It's not just about driver performance. But I remain full of hope that Paul will add his name to the list of Scots in F1 »

The last Scottish driver to have driven in Formula 1 was David Coulthard, having left the discipline at the end of 2008. A commentator for the BBC, the former driver Red Bull still participates in roadshows and now drives in DTM, a championship dominated by? Paul di Resta.
