Unlike 2022 where the F1 entered a whole new era, this year's winter tests were nothing revolutionary. This preparation session was used in particular by the teams to try the new version of their car evolved. For the moment, the hierarchy at the top of the rankings has not been shaken up with Red Bull always ahead Ferrari et Mercedes. But behind the leading trio, a team seems to have taken one or more steps forward compared to the previous season: Aston Martin.

Expected last year, the English team had a hard time convincing on the track. However, progress was notable at the end of the campaign and the technical recruitment carried out throughout 2022 allowed the Gaydon manufacturer to attack 2023 in a completely different state of mind.

This was seen during the winter tests in Bahrain where the AMR23 showed a pretty face. In the wake of the three major forces on the board, the Greens machine is already positioned as the 4e according to some specialists even if the real competition has not yet started. A theory which is in line with the words of Christian Horner, aware that Aston Martin has reduced the gap.

Aston Martin, a threat to Horner?

« I think they took a big step forward, highlights the main Red Bull team. It seems that their concept has allowed them to progress and that they are not very far away. Fernando (Alonso) in particular seems very competitive."

In Bahrain, the Spaniard actually rode a lot and above all rode well. Motivated as always to take on a new challenge, the Bull of Asturias has allowed Aston Martin to confirm that the AMR23 is working properly and that there are reasons to dream of a great year. Be careful though, these were only pre-season tests and not all the cards were revealed by the other teams. The Silverstone-based team in any case has them in hand to succeed in its 2023 financial year. See you this Sunday March 5 for the first round, still in Bahrain.

However, Aston Martin is not racing for sponsors like other teams on the grid!
