Mercedes: Ross Brawn full of confidence

Since his return as a constructor in 2010, Mercedes has never looked so fit. As proof, over the last five races, the team has won no less than three victories and four pole positions. With 208 points in the Manufacturers ranking, the Brackley formation is even in second position, behind Red Bull, at 277. Results which satisfied Ross Brawn, who also expects to keep the pace during the second part of the season. “The team has a good spirit at the moment, said the Team Principal. Our success rate has been pretty good on new technical innovations, the things we've brought to the track have generally worked. »

If the world of Formula 1 is currently on rest to respect the traditional summer break, the British leader is already optimistic about future developments. “We have a number of things coming up in the next few races that could give us that extra strength, that extra momentum, to carry us through the second half of the year. »

Furthermore, Ross Brawn assures that Mercedes can fight two different battles at the same time, continuing on the one hand the development of the current W04, while focusing energetically on the design of the W05, which will meet the new technical regulations of 2014, notably with the arrival of the 6l hybrid V1,6 turbo engine. “There are areas of the 2013 car that we will continue to develop almost until the end of the season since they will be able to follow the 2014 car. If we look at the suspension systems, we think that fundamentally the tires will be similar next year so developing this area is entirely relevant for next season. »

“I think some teams are going to have to put their 2013 car behind them and focus on the 2014 car. We're lucky at the moment to be able to do both. We have a good car, a solid team, we are in the game and we don't want to spoil it.", concluded Ross Brawn.
