Mercedes expects a great duel with Ferrari

The winter tests may have put the Ferrari SF16-H in the spotlight, Mercedes will remain the benchmark to beat in 2016 with the W07 Hybrid. The drivers of the German manufacturer made their claims known during the press conference held by the star brand in Fellbach near Stuttgart (Germany) and clearly designated the Team Ferrari as main opponent.

“I expect this season to be an uphill battle. Ferrari has caught up and Nico (Rosberg) is still a formidable rival. I think we have a good car, but Ferrari achieved very impressive times during testing, whether on flying laps or long stints. We're certainly preparing for a tough fight, but that's exactly what the people want after all.", commented Lewis Hamilton.

Nico Rosberg is also wary of the Prancing Horse even though the Silver Arrow should most likely have the advantage over the SF16-H. “We don't yet know where our level is compared to the competition, but Ferrari performed very well in testing and I expect a competitive race”, added the German.

The first verdict will be rendered on March 20 with the Australian Grand Prix contested in Melbourne.
