Does the 2024 season start from this 2023 United States Grand Prix for Mercedes ? Currently 2nd in the Manufacturers' championship, the Star measures the colossal gap which still separates it from Red Bull Racing (657 points for the world champions against 326).

Lewis Hamilton, which is back until 2025 with the German manufacturer, recently confided that the Brackley team (United Kingdom) was entering a crucial six-month development period.

In Austin this weekend (October 20-22), the W14 will have a new flat bottom. Toto wolff, Mercedes team principal, hopes that this development, the last on the car 2023, will result in increased competitiveness.

« We will bring a modified floor, which is the last significant update we will introduce on track this year, confirms the Austrian.

We hope it brings a small gain, but more importantly, it represents a new step in defining our development trajectory for the W15.

The fight for second place in the constructors' standings has intensified in recent races. We will keep our heads down, keep pushing and aim to score as many points as possible to increase our advantage. »

Mercedes, which has won 5 times at COTA, is currently 28 points ahead of Ferrari in the general classification.
