Michael Schumacher wants to “enjoy” his last Grand Prix in Brazil

There will be an air of déjà vu next Sunday during the Brazilian Grand Prix. A large page of the Formula 1 is about to be toured, with the second retirement of Michael Schumacher. And just like six years ago, the seven-time world champion's final race will take place at Interlagos.

“Interlagos is the right place to end my career because there is so much fascination with Formula 1 here. I have always appreciated the enthusiasm of the fans here,” declares the German. “It is a very good circuit which has seen many memorable events and which always offers spectacular races with a unique layout which guarantees lots of action”. As with all Brazilians and fans of this sport, the Sao Paulo circuit reminds the driver Mercedes another very big name in F1. “This track brings back my memories of Ayrton Senna”.

Unlike in 2006, Michael Schumacher does not have the slightest pressure for his second retirement. “My departure from Formula 1 will probably be less emotional unlike in 2006, when we were fighting for the championship and everything was more intense,” remembers the former pilot Ferrari, who ends his career after more than 20 years of competition. “This time, I will be able to pay a little more attention to my departure and, I hope, be able to savor it. »

“I have had fantastic years in Formula 1 and a huge amount of support from fans all over the world. I would especially like to thank them for that,” continues the German. For his final laps aboard a Silver Arrow, Michael Schumacher is keen to offer his supporters a solid race. ?I would be happier if I could say goodbye at the end of a great race. I am sure that we will do everything possible to make this happen. »
