Michelin will meet the F1 teams

While Pirelli holds the rope (see elsewhere) to equip the stables with Formula 1 From the 2011 season, Nick Shorrock, competition director at Michelin, will meet the team managers of the Formula 1 teams, AUTOhebdo.fr can reveal to you exclusively. On Sunday, at 11 a.m., he will meet F1 stakeholders and decision-makers to explain to them the vision and project of Michelin, which wishes to make its return to Formula 1 according to very specific standards.

Nick Shorrock will try to convince the teams to follow Michelin in this ambitious project, which plans to change tire standards. Sensing that Pirelli was going to win, Michelin reacted, showing its interest in joining the premier single-seater discipline. Nick Shorrock's trip was also organized at the last minute, in order to anticipate the officialization of Pirelli's choice.

If the Clermont-Ferrand firm has already made concessions, it should be ready to listen to the recommendations of the Formula 1 teams. They were sensitive to Pirelli's more open proposal, the Italian manufacturer having accepted more conditions. For its part, Michelin had more specific wishes: reduction in the number of sets of usable tires, increase in the lifespan of the tires. These criteria could change following the meeting which will bring together Nick Shorrock and the team bosses tomorrow.
