Successful mission for Alonso in Monaco

Fernando Alonso continues its series of good results by securing a new podium in the streets of the Principality and leaving Monaco with first place in the Championship. In such an indecisive season, the Asturian focuses mainly on his direct rivals in the standings and is happy to get ahead of Sebastian Vettel et Lewis Hamilton who follows the Asturian in this order at the finish of the race. “My goal was to finish ahead of Sebastian and Lewis because they were my main rivals in the Championship. You have to focus on different drivers race after race. Next will be Mark (Webber, tied on points with teammate Sebastian Vettel) who now occupies second place in the standings. It will be interesting to observe the regular developments of the car and the surprises we have in each ordeal. You never know who will be on pole and who will win. »

The pilot Ferrari had a big scare at the start of the race when he found himself involved in a collision with Romain Grosjean et Michael Schumacher. The Asturian feared a problem when he thought he had hit the Frenchman's E20. “I had a fantastic start and found myself alongside Romain in the first ten meters while also trying to pass Lewis who was third. They were all very close but I was able to get between them and I think I hit Romain before he spun. I was lucky nothing was damaged on my car. I think Romain's spin caused a few upsets in the standings because I saw Vettel fifth or sixth, so that helped some drivers. Everything went well after the start, I felt competitive even though it is difficult to manage the traffic in Monaco. I passed Hamilton during my perfectly timed stop. »
