Montreal and Ecclestone: it’s a discussion!

According to our colleagues from the Quebec daily "La Presse", the mayor of the city of Montreal Gérald Tremblay confirms that he is in "discussions" with Bernie Ecclestone to bring the Grand Prix back to the "Belle Province" in the summer of 2010.

According to information obtained by the same daily, it was Mr. Ecclestone himself who contacted the mayor. This information would tend to prove that the pressure is now very strong on Mister E.'s shoulders to bring a Grand Prix back to North America.

Remember that the name of Montreal was recently mentioned to compensate for a possible defection from Abu Dhabi in the event that the new circuit was not ready on time. Philippe Gurdjian, promoter of this new GP, having since denied any delay, the possibility of a return of Montreal to the 2010 calendar seems more plausible. However, until then, the teams will have to accept more than 17 Grands Prix…
