Nico Rosberg takes pole in Brazil

Under the checkered flag of the Brazilian Grand Prix qualifying session, Nico Rosberg can have a smile. The German pilot of Mercedes, outgoing winner on the Interlagos route, won his fifth consecutive pole, completing a best lap in 1'11″282.

Behind Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton tried everything, but finally failed 78 thousandths behind his teammate and preceded the Ferrari SF15-T Sebastian Vettel, who will start alongside Kimi Räikkönen, who benefits from the three-place penalty imposed on Valtteri Bottas (Williams) for overtaking yesterday in free practice under a red flag.

The third line will consist of Nico Hulkenberg (Force India) and Daniil Kvyat (Red Bull). Bottas will accompany Felipe Massa (Williams) on the fourth row in front Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull), beaten by his Russian teammate Kvyat, despite the use of the latest evolution of the Power Unit Renault on the Australian's RB11. The latter will have to observe a 10-place penalty for having changed engines. Max Verstappen (Toro Rosso) completes the top 10.

Felipe Nasr (Sauber) finishes at the gate of Q3, ahead of Carlos Sainz (Toro Rosso), Sergio Pérez (Force India) and Marcus Ericsson (Sauber). Romain Grosjean (Lotus) seemed able to advance to the final part of the session, but a spin during his second attempt in Q2 ruined his efforts. The future Haas driver F1 Team will only start from 15th position.

The Frenchman precedes his teammate Pastor Maldonado, eliminated at the end of Q1, where the drivers had immediately put on the softer tires. Jenson Button (McLaren), the Manor of Red and Stevens finish in this order and are ahead of the car de Fernando Alonso, once again forced to dismount at the start of the session, following a loss of power on the Honda Power Unit of his McLaren.

The Brazilian Grand Prix will be available to follow tomorrow at 17 p.m. on our website.
