Nico Rosberg is like most of us: the spectator he has become was delighted by the 2022 season of Formula 1. The 2016 world champion enjoyed the show given by the 20 actors last season, which launched a new era in F1 with the arrival of the new aerodynamic regulations. “For me, the year of F1 was so great. It was such an awesome season”, rejoiced the ex-pilot Mercedes on his YouTube channel official.
Despite the ultra-domination of Max Verstappen and the lack of suspense in the championship, Nico Rosberg admits to having vibrated while watching the races in 2022, much more than in previous seasons. “ Even though one guy (Max Verstappen) dominated so much, it didn't really make the season boring. It was just so interesting all the time, so exciting, with so many things changing… it was great! »
No more overtaking, “proof that the new rules work” believes Rosberg
Thanks to the new regulations, the drivers had less difficulty following each other, and therefore overtaking each other on the track. In 2022, there were 785 exceedances, compared to 599 in 2021, an increase of almost 30%. There were many battles on the track, like the British Grand Prix which you voted best Grand Prix of the year 2022. “I think the rule changes have worked really well, to make it easier to overtake, underlines Nico Rosberg. They [F1 and the FIA] have done a great job with this, led by Ross Brawn, so thanks to him and his team for the effort on this. The amount of overruns [in 2022] compared to [2021], [there were] so many more, and it's really just proof that the new rules are working. » Let's hope for him (and for us!) that the 2023 season will be just as exciting to follow!

When will we remove artificial travel assistance - namely the DRS - and once again leave room for "those who really have it" when braking?
