Nico Rosberg: “I made a mistake”

Better than Lewis Hamilton, and solid leader after quickly widening the gap at the start of the race, Nico Rosberg gradually saw his teammate return to Mercedes, then at a faster pace after tire changes. Already the author of a similar error on the 9th lap, the championship leader was trapped again on the 29th lap braking for the first chicane, and lost control of the Italian Grand Prix.

“Lewis was coming back very quickly and I had to adapt my pace and I made a mistake. It was very bad, Rosberg explains. It costs me in the end, and it's certainly very disappointing from that point of view. Monza is one of the most difficult tracks for braking due to the low downforce and the highest speed of the year. That's not an excuse. This is one of the challenges here and unfortunately I got it wrong twice in the race. »

Still whistled on the Italian podium, the German maintains a 22-unit lead in the championship over Hamilton.
