More fear than harm for Lando Norris. The Briton, who started at the back of the grid on Saturday evening in Las Vegas, was the victim of a major accident very early in the race. From the third lap, the young driver lost control of his MCL60 in the middle of turn 11, hitting the inside wall head-on, before ending his race in the Tecpro in the turn 12 escape route.

Stunned but not affected by this impact, Lando Norris was transported by the medical car to the medical center to undergo mandatory examinations after such an accident. As a precaution, he was then taken to hospital for further examinations, before leaving an hour later, released by doctors and without any injuries.

Back in the paddock, Lando Norris briefly explained what had happened to him. “I just tailgated with the flat bottom, lost the rear and hit the wall, he described. This is not the way we wanted the weekend to end, especially considering the pace was promising on Oscar's side [Piastres]. Many thanks to the medical team for examining me, and to the team for the work they will now do on the car. »

McLaren requests dent removal

After the time of relief in the clan McLaren, it's time for criticism from Andrea Stella, principal director of the British team, visibly annoyed by an irregularity in the track at the place where his driver crashed. “There's a hump there, you can see all the cars sparkle as they go over that hump. I think the combination of the bump and the cold tires may have surprised him. But otherwise we don't see any problems with the car or of any other nature", confided the Italian engineer.

The latter calls in particular for the removal of this imperceptible night bump for future editions of the Las Vegas Grand Prix. “This bump, if we continue racing at night, should be repaired because the tires will always be cold, with little grip and it becomes a very tricky corner, specifies the McLaren Team Principal. Already over the weekend we saw cases of oversteer at this location. Regardless of the schedule, we highly recommend that this bump be more than removed. (…) I'm sure all drivers will agree that this is something that needs to be fixed. »

“This bump, if we continue to race at night, should be fixed...” Is Zak BROWN considering a day race? Certainly less painful for the teams and drivers, not to mention the eco-friendly aspect... even if the Yankees don't care at all when we see the garish lights and neon, not to mention the famous sphere!!

Perhaps we should 'fly' less low, especially with a full tank! ? !
