New package for Ferrari at Silverstone

With only one car arriving at the Turkish Grand Prix, Ferrari failed to match his performance obtained in Monaco. There, the Reds showed themselves to be the most serious rivals of the Brawn GP by taking 3rd and 4th places. In England this weekend, the F60s will be able to rely on a new aerodynamic package which should allow them to make up part of their gap.

This week, in the absence of Marc Gené, the Scuderia test driver, who celebrated his victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, it was Felipe Massa who set about carrying out the aero tests on Monday. On the Fiorano circuit, the Brazilian was able to test new components during a straight line test day authorized by the FIA. He also tried a new front wing and new components still at the front of the car.

Kimi Räikkönen and Felipe Massa will also have a new front suspension geometry which will allow the F60 to display a more forward weight distribution. This new element should allow the car to acquire more grip and thus have tires warm up more quickly.

At Silverstone, this should also help the team improve the performance of the F60. So, on fast circuits, like the English track, it is preferable to have more weight at the front of the car to go fast while on winding tracks, the weight at the rear allows you to be more efficient. . Because of the SREC, the F60 tends to have weight in the rear. This characteristic allowed the F60s to achieve a good result in Monaco but, conversely, handicapped them in Turkey.

« At Silverstone, performance in fast corners is very important », indicates Kimi Räikkönen. “ It will be a difficult British GP. Getting on the podium would be a great result He concludes.
