Ocon: “I had the car for Q3”

Esteban Ocon will have difficulty continuing its series of top tens launched since the start of the season at the Monaco GP. The Force India driver will only start from 15th after missing part of Q1, while his team finishes repairing his damaged VJM10 this morning during FP3 when the 2015 GP3 Series champion made a mistake at the Piscine corner.

“I'm disappointed because I had the car to make Q3 today, regrets Esteban Ocon. Unfortunately, this is what happens when you crash before qualifying. The team did a great job and the mechanics from both garages helped me out for Q1. It proves that we have good team spirit and I thank them for that. »

“The car is never the same after an accident and you lose a lot of sensations, explains the Force India driver. I had to adapt quickly and I didn't find the pace I achieved in practice. Given the circumstances, I couldn't do better than 16th (15th with Jenson Button's penalty). I still believe the points are playable. Anything can happen and the race is long. »

Pérez is doing better

Sergio Pérez demonstrated the potential of Force India by taking 7th position on the grid for the Monaco GP, between the Toro Rosso de Carlos Sainz Jr and the Haas de Romain Grosjean.

“I am very satisfied with our result, comments Sergio Pérez, because we achieved the maximum. Every lap is crucial here and you have to be in the rhythm from the first lap to get a good result. We played well avoiding traffic and I was immediately in the rhythm, which allowed me to only make one attempt in Q1. It's just unfortunate that Esteban is not in Q3 with me. »

The start of the Monaco Grand Prix will be contested this Sunday from 14 p.m. and will be to follow exceptionally in live streaming on our website.
