Oscar Piastri denies having signed for Alpine !

Oscar Piastri announced he would not run Alpine next year / DPPI

Thunderbolt! So thatAlpine F1 Team had announced that Oscar Piastri would replace Fernando Alonso from the 2023 season, the Australian denied having signed for the French team. Even worse for Alpine, the young hope of the F1 has indicated that he will not drive for the A arrow brand next season. “ Without my consent, Alpine F1 issued a press release late this afternoon stating that I would be driving for them next season. This is false, I did not sign a contract with Alpine for the 2023 season. I will not drive for Alpine next year.«

It was indeed curious to note that, in his press release, Alpine had not published any quotes from Oscar Piastri even though he had just accomplished his dream of joining the F1 grid. A promotion for which Alpine had prepared himself by incubating his nugget with a lot of tests with theAlpine A521 and a reinforced presence of the Australian in the F1 paddock. However, Oscar Piastri will not drive alongsideEsteban Ocon next season. More importantly, everything suggests that he will be... one of his adversaries. By announcing that he will not drive for Alpine next year, the Melbourne native suggests that he already has an agreement with another team on the grid. According to our information, the reigning champion of the Formula 2 has indeed pre-committed to a team, and it is therefore not Alpine.

We can easily imagine that the phone of Mark Webber, manager of Oscar Piastri, had to heat up very hard in recent days to find a place for his foal to stay. Still according to our information, it could be McLaren as Daniel Ricciardo is in pole position to replace Fernando Alonso, leaving for Aston Martin. The F1 transfer window has undoubtedly just changed this evening. But it is a safe bet that legal repercussions will be incurred, Alpine unable to afford to lose, in addition to its historic pilot, the one who must (should?) embody the future of the A arrow and whose contractual situation is becoming more and more vague. This situation is reminiscent of the case of Alex Palou, the reigning IndyCar champion having been recruited by McLaren Racing while his employer, Chip Ganassi Racing, had exercised its option to keep him next year. Ganassi then… decided to take legal action. Alpine will she imitate him?

The lawyers will make money and all this will be settled nicely between “sharks” with hard dollars!! Silly season means money...
