Palmer had a response

Like his future replacement Carlos Sainz Jr. (Toro Rosso), Jolyon Palmer achieved the best result of his career at the Singapore GP in F1 by taking sixth place behind Sergio Pérez (Force India). The Briton was very inspired to shine at Marina Bay while speculation still points to his departure before the end of the season.

“It’s incredibly satisfying,” admitted Jolyon Palmer on Sky Sports. This race was enjoyable from the start. You never know what to expect with rain. I got a good start and was very fast in the wet. »

“We want to show every weekend what we can do and it finally happened this weekend with some success. I could have obtained this result earlier, in Baku (Azerbaijan), at Silverstone (Great Britain) or at Spa (Belgium). I hope we can continue like this for the next six races. »

Jolyon Palmer brought relief to Renault Sport F1 Team which was fighting for the podium with Nico Hulkenberg until the winner of 24 Hours of Le Mans 2015 must abandon following an oil leak.

“It’s a disappointing and difficult day. We could aim for a good result, but we did not have the necessary reliability while we were in fourth place, regrets Nico Hülkenberg. The positive thing is that we have shown that the car is competitive on all types of circuits. We can fight for points in the next rounds in Asia. »

This half-hearted weekend for Renault nevertheless allows the Losange to take seventh place in the Manufacturers' Championship against Haas F1 Team and to return to 17 units of the fifth place occupied by Williams Racing.

“(Jolyon Palmer) was able to help the team progress in the Constructors' Championship by bringing us closer to our goal of fifth place. The last races will suit our cars and our goal remains unchanged”, comments Cyril Abiteboul, the general director of Renault Sport Racing.
