No panic for Vettel and Marko

“Of course Jerez was not a good test for us. " explain Sebastian Vettel. “Other teams have covered more kilometers than us, which is important, because everything is so new. But it's better for problems to happen now than later in the race. I hope now it will be better in Bahrain. We must not underestimate anything. Power Units are a huge challenge. Everything is completely new. I believe that Renault solved the problems at Jerez. »

Concerning his direct opponents, Vettel thinks that Mercedes has a margin, but that doesn't surprise him. “All the Mercedes-powered cars were very strong at Jerez. This did not surprise me, because everyone knew the important work and investments made by Mercedes on these new V6 units. »

Helmut Marko, head of the youth sector at Red Bull, also wants to play down the situation. “We have a long-term contract with Renault, which is of course linked to performance. We work together to resolve current issues. Do not panic. »
