Force India got off to a good start to the season last weekend at the Australian GP, placing both of its VJM10s in the points. Esteban Ocon snatched 10th place while his teammate Sergio Pérez ranked 7th ahead of the Toro Rosso de Carlos Sainz Jr and Daniil Kvyat, while Haas de Romain Grosjean et Kevin Magnussen have given up.
« Williams is too far ahead at the moment, recognized Sergio Pérez. Haas and Toro Rosso are faster than us and the team can be satisfied to have beaten them on track and with strategy. »
“Melbourne is a circuit where one driver can make the difference, it’s a bumpy, narrow and difficult track. We will suffer more on a normal circuit and we really need developments as quickly as possible”, added Sergio Pérez.
Force India further behind
Sergio Pérez believes that the result achieved by Force India at the Australian GP does not represent the true hierarchy.
“We have to work hard on the car because we have seen that Force India is not always successful at the start of the season. It's probably the best in the last four years. This is encouraging, but we know our true place is not where we finished.”, underlined Sergio Pérez.
