Pierre Gasly, eliminated in Q1: “I’m disgusted”

Pierre Gasly was knocked out of Q1 during Hungarian GP/DPPI qualifying

Pierre Gasly was eliminated in Q1 during Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying. On the Hungaroring, the Norman signed theth 19th and penultimate time and will therefore start from the last row during the race on Sunday. The pilot Alpha Tauri was penalized because his best time was canceled for having exceeded the limits of the track at turn 5. This attempt then gave him the 13th provisional time. Unfortunately, Pierre Gasly was forced to watch Q2 from the pits, not from his seat.

« I haven't seen the pictures yet, indicated Pierre Gasly to our colleagues at Canal+. I'm disappointed, frankly, because it was a good lap that allowed me to move into Q2. We were then in 13th position. We'll have to look again and see to what extent (the limits of the track were exceeded), we didn't have the right cameras, so we couldn't see exactly. »

For Pierre Gasly and AlphaTauri, it's definitely a grimace because his teammate Yuki tsunoda also failed to make the cut for Q2 (16th). The improvements on the ATO3 are currently only in name. And do not allow the French pilot to escape his spiral of poor results. “ Honestly, anything is still possible. This afternoon, I really had a good lap. Before qualifying, our predictions gave us 16th and 17th, and I managed to set the 13th time so it was really good. Afterwards, I'm sure I'm disappointed to miss Q2. Since the start of the season, there has been a lot of fuss with track limits. I don't know how much it was, but maybe it was a matter of 5 centimeters. It's really a shame.«
