This will have the merit of putting an end to the rumors McLaren or others Mercedes (in the event of departure at the end of the season Lewis Hamilton). In any case for 2023. Unsurprisingly, and while Franz Tost was already announcing in Canada which Pierre Gasly was 100% sure to stay at Alpha Tauri next year, the Faenza team officially confirmed the news this Friday morning in a communicated

In absolute terms, we can question the usefulness of such official communication, when we know that Gasly has a contract Red Bull to 2023. Sergio Perez having returned to stable A alongside Max Verstappen, the native of Bois-Guillaume had in any case no other choice than to continue with the structure of Faenza, and this without even extending. Contractually, the publication of the press release does not change much, but it at least has the merit of clarifying the situation and allowing the team and Pierre to concentrate on themselves, without having to answer questions related to the future.

Pierre Gasly and AlphaTauri, together or almost since 2017

After joining the team at the end of the 2017 season, when it was still called Toro Rosso, and leaving it for just six months for Red Bull before returning, the Frenchman became the team leader with the little Team, which he managed to win in 2020 at Monza. “I've been on this team for five years now, explained Gasly. I am proud of the journey we have taken together and the progress we have made so far. I am very happy to stay at AlphaTauri. The new 2022 regulations have created new challenges for us and being able to plan our development with the team for the next 18 months is a good basis from which to work for the future.

Always very complimentary of his pilot whom he holds in high esteem, Franz Tost was delighted to have been able to keep Pierre. “We are really happy to confirm that Pierre is staying with us in 2023, said Franz Tost. He is definitely part of the group of the best and most competitive drivers in F1 and proved his abilities with us. There is no doubt that Pierre can play a major role in the team's success next year and it will be up to us to provide him with a competitive car, so that he can continue to achieve excellent results.
