As in Malaysia, the teams will use medium and hard tires at Spa-Francorchamps (from August 31 to September 2) as well as at Monza (September 07-09), two circuits where the tires will be put to the test. While in Singapore (September 21-23), for the return of F1 on an urban track, Pirelli will provide soft and super soft tires.
The Italian manufacturer therefore made a more conservative choice for its tires this year for the last two European Grands Prix of the season since in 2012, soft and medium tires were supplied to Spa-Francorchamps then to Monza. During the last edition of the Belgian Grand Prix, Pirelli criticized Red Bull to use excessive settings on its car, causing increased degradation of Italian rubbers.
Last month, the sole manufacturer of F1 carried out a few days of testing on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit with a Renault R30 driven by Lucas di Grassi and Jaime Alguersuari, to continue the development of the 2013 tires.
