Pirelli exclusive supplier until 2024
Exclusive supplier of tires for all single-seaters on the grid for ten years, Pirelli is not about to leave the world of racing. Formula 1. Until now linked to Liberty Media for the next three seasons, the transalpine manufacturer has extended, after a proposal from the FIA and F1, its exclusivity contract for one year, i.e. 2024.
« We are delighted to have reached an agreement which will extend our presence at the pinnacle of motorsport until 2024, rejoiced Marco Tronchetti, the general director of the Italian firm. Pirelli has been supporting Formula 1 for over 70 years, starting with the first race in 1950.
The company continues to invest in the highest research and development technologies, evidenced by the introduction of 18-inch tires from next year ».
Pirelli returned to Formula 1 in 2011, the year Bridgestone left the scene, and has held exclusivity ever since. Next year, the Lombard manufacturer plans to leave aside the 13-inch tires to move to 18-inches.
