Pirelli reviews its tires in Spain

The premature degradation of the Italian manufacturer's tires has the merit of increasing the intensity of F1 races. However, Pirelli will arrive in Spain with new tires which should be more efficient.

The arrival of Pirelli in F1 has increased the importance of strategies. The teams must anticipate premature tire wear while the drivers try to preserve them as best they can. Thus, the Turkish GP, demanding on the tires, obtained a record in the discipline with the greatest number of pit stops (81 pit-stops in the race).

Pirelli Motorsport director Paul Hembery says the new tires introduced at the Spanish GP will be more durable. “ We announced at the start of the year that we were going to make changes to our rubbers. Barcelona will be the first opportunity to prove it. The new tire will degrade less quickly and will have better grip », Announces Paul Hembery.
