At Ferrari, fatalism has taken over optimism. The Scuderia was confined to a supporting role during the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Despite the promise of a good qualification from Charles Leclerc Saturday (2nd in Q3 but 12th on the grid following a penalty), the firm of Maranello has never been in the match for the podium, let alone for the victory.

The two men from the Italian team even finished behind the two Mercedes, in 6th and 7th ranks for Sainz and Leclerc. The latter was resigned at the finish of the race. “Once I got within a second and a half of Carlos, it was very difficult to get close. The difference in pace was not significant enough. I made a little mistake when I was in the DRS, and when I lost it, it was over, he explained on the microphone of Sky Sports F1. I stayed there. It's like that. Honestly, I don't think there was much more going on in the car today. We just have to work to find rhythm. »

Leclerc fatalist for Ferrari

The Scuderia leaves Jeddah with only 14 points scored and remains stuck in 4th place in the constructors' championship, behind Aston Martin and Mercedes. Far from the ambitions displayed during the pre-season... If the Ferrari SF-23 responded on Saturday in qualifying, it was in the race that the main problems surfaced.

Asked about the scale of the work to be done at Ferrari, Leclerc simply replied: “A lot, really a lot”. According to the Monegasque, his car is lower in every point than the reference Red Bull. “In a straight line, they are faster than us. In turns, they are faster. There's a little bit of everything. » In Australia, on a circuit where the top speed will be less important, Ferrari will have the opportunity to catch up and get back into the match against Aston Martin. The Scuderia has yet to score a single podium this season.
