First rainy day of testing at Jerez

In addition to the presentation of the news Red Bull RB6, the first public laps of the car of the Virgin team constitute the major event of this day, even if Timo Glock will have only completed three short laps of the Iberian circuit plus two launches. The VR-01, the first car from one of the four new 2010 teams to have officially raced, closes the time sheet. A result to be put into perspective given the conditions and the time spent by the car at the bottom of its box.

A wet track unfortunately did not allow the competitors to work as they wanted. The different teams present did not remain inactive however. Nico Hulkenberg and Williams were with 118 laps, the most diligent on the track in front Fernando Alonso and Vitantonio Liuzzi with 88 and 71 loops covered respectively. For its first day of driving, the Red Bull RB6 driven by Mark Webber completed the Spanish track around fifty times despite an oil leak problem in the middle of the day.

In the end the times become anecdotal. Nico Rosberg set the best time of the day in 1:20:927 50 minutes after the track opened, a few moments before the rain appeared. The German driver completed a total of 58 laps of the circuit before stopping at the side of the track due to a mechanical problem.

Resumption of hostilities tomorrow morning under a sky that we hope will be more clement and with Michael Schumacher in the tub of the Mercedes W01.
