When F1 drivers live the American dream in Miami

We do not yet know what we will remember from the Miami Grand Prix in terms of pure racing, but it is already certain that the drivers will not forget the atmosphere and the numerous sporting events which they carried out between Wednesday and Friday, the date of the first runs of the weekend (20:30 p.m., EL1 and 23:30 p.m., EL2). It all started on Wednesday evening, at the foot of the Hard Rock Stadium around which the circuit was traced. The drivers, on a high platform, greeted the fans who had gathered for the welcome evening. The first crowd bath in a long series!

Thanks in particular to one of its sponsors, Pierre Gasly had the incredible chance to have dinner for almost three hours with Michael Jordan, one of his greatest inspirations. The 59-year-old American is considered by many to be the best basketball player of all time. The Norman said he was surprised by his dining partner's knowledge of motorsport, and explained that he had learned a lot from “His Airness”.

Traced in Miami Gardens, in the most sporting district of the city, the circuit is based around Hard Rock Stadium, home of the Miami Dolphins (NFL). The Miami Tennis tournament (Masters 1000) also takes place right next door. The city also has a competitive baseball club, as well as a soccer team known as Inter Miami. We were able to see the pilots try a few passes, oval ball in hand like Valtteri Bottas, or even some ball juggling, likeEsteban Ocon, who also attempted a conversion kick on the Dolphins' lawn.

For its part, Lewis Hamilton, seven-time F1 world champion, enjoyed a little game of golf with his New York friend and neighbor Tom Brady, the only footballer with seven rings, at the Miami Golf Club. There is still a little work on the swing for LH44, but good progress has been noted by experts!

His teammate George Russell was there on Tuesday evening at the FTX Arena, where the Miami Heat, the basketball club, plays. Very fond of close-ups on the spectators, the production of the club room in which LeBron James played also focused at length on the young British pilot, who came to relax with his girlfriend and enjoy the atmosphere of an NBA game before facing the city streets flying in hand.

It wasn't just for pilots. The American boss of McLaren Zak Brown also had the right to quite an adrenaline shot. He actually boarded the Blue Angels, a US Navy plane in which he flew over the city for 45 minutes. Make no mistake, however, the escapade was anything but a simple aerial ride, since Brown discovered the sensations of a double loop performed at around 400 mph!

Red Bull, for his part, did Red Bull! With a Max Verstappen and Yuki tsunoda at the wheel of a machine halfway between a buggy, a plane and a boat, whose name we cannot give you, and which runs as fast on land as it sails on water! The two men also took part in a little race and guess what? This time, Max Verstappen did not finish as the best Red Bull driver!
