Racing Point Force India will retain its bonus status

Racing Point Force India will be able to maintain its status in terms of bonuses even if it had to agree to start from scratch at the level of the Manufacturers' Championship.

The former entity headed by Vijay Mallya had an interesting position at the hierarchy level, which allowed it to obtain substantial bonuses under the Concorde Agreements. The new team formed from the ashes of Force India will be able to maintain this advantage after obtaining the agreement of the other nine teams.

“The other nine teams have signed a document which allows us to retain the awards obtained by Force India in recent years, confirmed the new director of the structure Otmar Szafnauer, previously director of operations within the team. In return, we must give up the points acquired during the season (59) because they were won by Force India which is no longer entered. »

“We will therefore try to win as many points as possible in the remaining races in order to optimize the amount of prize money that we will collect next year”, said the new Team Principal.

Otmar Szafnauer wanted to thank the major players in the F1 which contributed to the maintenance of the team which was not assured earlier in the week of being able to participate this weekend in the Belgian GP, ​​the sale of the structure having been carried out in a hasty manner.

“The original plan was to do a stock sale, but for reasons I don't fully understand, it ended up being an asset sale, he admitted. The Team Principal of Racing Point Force India also confirmed that the new team name was provisional, but that the words "Force India", the pink livery or the name of the chassis had been retained so as not to add more confusion for the public.
