Räikkönen: the time was not the objective

Author of the best time in winter testing with a lap completed in 1'18''634, Kimi Räikkönen had reason to be satisfied with the tests carried out with the Ferrari SF70H. The new car de Maranello displays good reliability and promising performance, even if those of the W08 were undoubtedly hidden by Mercedes.

“We could go faster, but that’s not what these tests are about, commented Kimi Räikkönen. There are a lot of things we can improve on, but that's what testing is for. We can be satisfied with this last day, one of the most productive in the last two weeks. It’s only the start of the year, we’ll have to see how the season starts. »

“The car ran well and the feeling was positive from the first day. The team did a very good job over the winter preparing the car and making it reliable. We have made really good progress compared to last year, but we still don't know where we will be in the first race. It’s always the same story at this time. »

With 955 laps covered during these two weeks of testing, Scuderia Ferrari can nevertheless be optimistic for the start of the season which will take place on March 26 in Melbourne for the Australian Grand Prix.
