Räikkönen could take pole at Spa

Kimi Räikkönen had a good qualifying performance at the Belgian Grand Prix as he took third place, less than two tenths from the benchmark set by Nico Rosberg (Mercedes). The 2007 world champion even missed the first row for less than two hundredths behind Max Verstappen (Red Bull).

Having made a mistake during his last attempt in Q3, the four-time winner of the Belgian Grand Prix believes he had the potential to win pole.

“My mistake in the first attempt was regrettable. I was able to make up for it in the second, but I lost two tenths compared to my best lap in Q2 in the last corner. The pole was decided there. It’s a bit disappointing because it would have been nice to be in first position, but we can still do things in the race”, commented the pilot Ferrari.

“We can be happy with our place compared to the other races, but you can’t be happy not being at the front of the line.”, added Iceman.

Kimi Räikkönen still has the satisfaction of ahead of his teammate Sebastian Vettel who fell two tenths behind and who will complete the second row of the grid for the Belgian Grand Prix.

“It was very close today. I think the top five or six drivers have a chance of victory tomorrow. It's within our reach, assured Sebastian Vettel. We will start on soft tyres, but all types of rubber suffer on this circuit and we will have to be smart with the strategies. »
