Red Bull defends its fuel choice

Toto wolff, the executive chairman of Mercedes Motorsport, questioned the choice of Red Bull for having opted for a fuel supplier different from that used Renault for his stable.

Christian Horner, Team Principal of Red Bull Racing, assured that the team assumed the choice of ExxonMobil and that it was not linked to marketing, while the Losange works with BP-Castrol.

“I heard that Toto had made quite a few comments on this subject, said Christian Horner on Sky Sports News. We see this partnership as an advantage. We have had a very good relationship with Exxon for the past 12 months. They produce very good products and we see them as a technical advantage. They made us win three Grands Prix last year (Azerbaijan, Malaysia and Mexico). »

“We have more constraints than if we used the manufacturer's team supplier, but that just means they have to have more engines on the test bench. We cannot communicate the cost this represents. But we would not have made this partnership if we had not gained a technical advantage from it. It’s a large company that reacts very quickly,” said the Briton.
