Red Bull optimistic after free practice

The mood is good at Red Bull after the first day of testing in Abu Dhabi. Christian Horner's men were in great form at the Yas Marina circuit on Friday, including Max Verstappen's best time in Free Practice 1 in the morning.

According to the Dutchman, this performance comes as a surprise. “The car seems to be working very well, better than we expected, a bit like in Brazil. I felt comfortable from the first laps, and it usually ends with a good result on Friday, He explains.

The difference between the best should come down to tire management according to him. We are comfortable with that. I expect Abu Dhabi to be a race that will be decided by tire consumption, I hope we benefit from that”, positive Max Verstappen.

In ambush, his teammate Daniel Ricciardo wants to complete his Red Bull adventure in the best possible way. Before joining Renault in 2019, the Australian will compete in his 100th GP with the Austrian team and could well aim for victory.

“Since my victory in Monaco, I absolutely want to have an ideal weekend and I know that Abu Dhabi is my last chance with Red Bull. I want more. »

The wearer of No. 3 set the second and then the third times. “The hyper soft tires are more grippy on the front axle while the ultra and super soft tires have more grip at the rear. »

Red Bull's strong point according to Daniel Ricciardo, speed over the long term. « We seem fast during the long stints, even if we still need to find some performance on the short stints. »
