All that was missing was an official promulgation which will take place as soon as the FIA has finalized and put down on paper the details of the new 2026 engine regulations, but the team based in Milton Keynes et Porsche, the Zuffenhausen firm, will link their destiny well in the coming years. This announcement comes as the FIA wishes to finalize the regulations on 2026 power units – potentially in the coming weeks – in any case before the next meeting of the World Motor Sport Council next October.

If there is not a cause and effect relationship between these two correspondences, we can nevertheless deduce that the discussions are closed on the side of Porsche, which had suspended its entry into F1 to the removal of the MGU-H (thermal generator engine) due to the design challenge it represents and the complexity of its role within the energy recovery system.

What about Audi?

On the Red Bull side, everything is ready in England to welcome the famous firm and launch the program since the Red Bull Powertrains staff moved last week into the new dedicated building, which will be fully operational within two weeks. Until the end of 2025, the latter will include the study and construction of the German power unit and the engineering partnership with Honda for the supply of current engines to the in-house team.

Asked about the possible return of the Japanese firm after 2025 during the bosses' press conference, Christian Horner explained that he knew nothing of the intentions of the Japanese and that Red Bull had not had any discussions with them on this subject. . If he didn't want to talk about his "discussions" with Porsche, no doubt it was to reserve the first of its declarations for the announcement of the week.

It now remains to be seen what Audi's intentions are regarding its future involvement. His problem being to buy a stable, we should not expect a quick announcement since, according to our information, discussions are continuing in all directions, the sticking point being for some at the price level. F1 is booming, and so are the financial demands of potential sellers…
