Red Bull is working hard to be ready for Jerez

Red Bull Racing chose as Mercedes F1 to present his car just before the start of the Jerez winter testing which will take place on February 1st. If the regulations are similar to those of last year, the development of the RB11 seems to have lagged a little. The Austrian team seems to have done its utmost to optimize the performance of its new car in order to close the gap on the star manufacturer.

Christian Horner, director of Red Bull Racing, gave the reasons for this rush. “The car isn’t ready yet.”, he said when quoted by Sky Sports. “We are totally focused on building the car. We probably haven't had such a short amount of time for construction and assembly in the last ten years. There is still a lot to do before Sunday. »

Red Bull's development work is associated with that delivered by Renault Sports F1 who had no other choice than to select the Taureau Rouge as the first client team in order to make up for the delay in the development of the Power Unit. The Losange will be able to benefit from the thaw granted by the FIA. “The chassis is an evolution. Work focuses on the engine and I think the rules and the chips available as the season progresses will force us to be strategic”, added Christian Horner. “Mercedes is obviously the benchmark. They arrive as defending champions and are the favorites for this season as they had a significant advantage at the end of last year. »
