The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix should allow the team Red Bull to really launch its 2022 season. A week earlier, the British-Austrian team had suffered a terrible affront with the abandonment of its two single-seaters driven by Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez in the final laps of the Bahrain Grand Prix.

A spokesperson for Red Bull explained to the official website of the F1 the cause of this failure. “Both cars suffered from a lack of fuel pressure last weekend. The correct amount of fuel was in both cars, but an empty space prevented the pumps from drawing fuel and delivering it to the engine. We have taken the necessary steps to correct this issue and we do not anticipate any issues in Jeddah. »

The 2021 world champion Max Verstappen will therefore seek to open his score on the Saudi Corniche, despite a climate of tension unprecedented in F1. This is not linked to the reliability of the equipment given to the Dutchman, but to the attack claimed by the Yemeni Houthis around fifteen kilometers from the circuit Friday.
