Revised rules for the safety car?

The Brazilian GP could have had a different classification if the safety car had not returned to the track. The drivers one lap behind the leaders found themselves at the center of the fight for the first places during the restart. It was not easy for them to respect the regulations to the letter, as the order of the cars was so mixed.

At the end of the race, some drivers asked for the regulations to return to their old version, where the drivers were put back in the order of the classification when the safety car came out. Adrian Sutil is one of them. Force India driver unintentionally got in the way Fernando Alonso during the restart.

« I was being taken for a ride by Alonso, but no one warned me, I didn't have any blue flags. I was trying to guess whether Massa or Alonso was following me, because Massa was behind me (in the ranking). This is particularly regrettable at the end of the season when the drivers are fighting for the Championship. »

Rubens Barrichello and Robert Kubica share the same opinion, even if each imagines their own variations. “ Something special should be considered for a single race », suggests the Brazilian. The Pole still remains more realistic. “ I think it would be better (with the old rules), but it remains very difficult. There are positives and negatives. Pilots would waste a lot of time retraining. But everyone would like to see the fight fought. »

Nico Rosberg, however, does not share this opinion and thinks that the current rules should be retained. “ I don't think it's an unmanageable situation as long as it's clear to everyone. This is a sector where everyone must improve because the pilots are very quickly informed that they have passed through me, for example? »
