Renault: problems are normal during testing

Renault Sport F1 Team was able to cover 786 laps on the Catalunya circuit in Barcelona with the R.S 16 driven by Kevin Magnussen and Jolyon Palmer. The stable ofenstone encountered various issues, such as a hydraulic problem on the last day, but the team was prepared for these problems with the significant changes made during the winter break.

“The team had good tests, very productive”, underlined Frédéric Vasseur, competition director of Renault Sport F1 Team. “It was special to see the union between Enstone and Viry-Châtillon reborn and to witness what they do best: being on the track. Obviously, we had some problems during these eight days in Barcelona, but that is the very nature of testing. »

The Frenchman is now waiting for the start of the season in Melbourne where the Australian Grand Prix will be contested on March 20 to assess the level of his team against the competition. “The important thing is that we have a good working base and great people focused on the same goal. Both Jolyon and Kevin were impressive. We all look forward to seeing how our work over these two weeks translates to Australia”, he added.

“The team is really well prepared and I am confident about our performance for the first race and those that follow.”, specified Jolyon Palmer. “We didn’t completely complete our schedule for the day, but those are the hazards of testing. We are definitely in a good place going into the season. »
