Aged 79, former Formula 1 driver and Argentine senator Carlos Reutemann suffers from an intestinal hemorrhage.

Reutemann admitted to intensive care in Argentina

79-year-old former pilot Carlos Reutemann was admitted to the intensive therapy unit of Santa Fe (Argentina) this Wednesday, May 5. The information was confirmed this Friday, May 7 by Doctor Sebastian del Pazo, Clinic Coordinator.

“Carlos A. Reutemann was admitted following intestinal bleeding (and stays there) awaiting the results of ongoing analyses”, explains the doctor.

The vice-world champion of Formula 1 1982, however, was taken to the hospital on his own showing signs of anemia. Doctors detected the hemorrhage and transferred him to intensive care on Thursday midday.

The man with 12 Grand Prix successes, converted to politics in the 1980s with two terms as governor of Santa Fe and national senator since 2003, had been decreased by liver cancer in 2017. He had to go to New York (United States) for a major surgery.
